Sydney: students clash with police, blockade university meeting

May 7:  Around 60 students at a University of Sydney demonstration against proposed staff cuts tried to storm the building where they believed the university senate was meeting.  They were forced back by riot police. Three people were arrested, but were later released without charge. According to police, a policewoman broke her arm.

It is believed the senate changed the location of the meeting to a services building nearby. Protesters staged a three-hour blockade of this building, which they believe was succesful in preventing the meeting.
