Perth: prisoner climbs on roof for twelve hours

February 8: “A prisoner who scaled the roof of a medium security prison yesterday will be moved to a maximum security jail.

The man climbed onto the roof of Acacia Prison [run by Serco], northeast of Perth,  forcing the facility into lockdown.

Today the Department of Corrective Services released a short statement saying  the stand-off  had been resolved and  the prisoner would be moved to a maximum security jail.

The man was talked down at about 10pm after spending about 12 hours on the roof.  No one was harmed.

The department has refused to divulge further details about the prisoner.”
